Incredible video. Turn your sound up. Watch it full screen. The glory and variety of the creation is astounding.

Starbucks instant coffee officially hit stores this week. I tried a sample and it was decent! Still instant coffee, but for instant coffee, pretty good. My current obsession is to sweeten my coffee with sweetened condensed milk, which is Vietnamese style. SO good.

This week I was struck by a post someone linked to about witnessing a man in his 90's caring for his wife who'd had a stroke. I was nearly moved to tears - the depiction of love in the story is painfully beautiful, you simply must read it. I hope that in whatever time God gives us, Isaac and I continue to learn to love each other like that.

Anyone remember Blake Lewis? Several years ago he was on American Idol as the funky beat-boxing contestant. His first cd pretty much went unnoticed, but Blake released his second cd, Heartbreak on Vinyl this week and I really liked it. It's more of a dance/techno feel than most of the pop stuff that comes out of AI, and it's really fun.

I am still in denial that it's actually Fall. When school began everyone talked about how fast the summer went, but I internally reassured myself that summer lingers for months in Dallas. Since then it has been rainy and unseasonably cool in Dallas, and now some trees are starting to tinge yellow or pink. I DON'T BELIEVE IT. It still feels like July to me.

Over on my theology blog I mused this week about whether or not our Founding Fathers were proudly Christian. Today or tomorrow I should be posting about the authority of the Pope and the Great Schism and how looking at that history affects my view of both churches.

And something from home - or at least close to home... this is a video of a man from Papua (the island I grew up on) attempting to get on an escalator for the first time. HILARIOUS. There is one escalator in the city I grew up in, and it is new. I can just imagine people doing this...

Did you grow up in Sentani? In the "new" mall here, there are quite a few escalators. Sometimes I see people watching me go on first before they go on to see how it's done... lol
ReplyDeleteI love the escalator video! I was really surprised to see one there back in March. I can totally see this happening. :)
